Leeway (“Leeway,” “we,” “our,” or “the app”) is designed with privacy in mind. We collect and process only the information necessary to provide and operate the app.
This Privacy Policy explains what information is processed when you use Leeway, where that information is stored, the third-party services involved, and the choices available to you.
Leeway does not require you to create an account or provide your name or email address to use the app.
When you use Leeway, you may provide information such as:
Your dog’s name, breed, age, weight, triggers, and trigger severity
A photo of your dog, if you choose to add one
Your approximate walking area
Information about walks you log, including time, duration, encounters, proximity to triggers, reactions, recovery time, and notes
Ratings you provide about your own state before or after a walk
This information is stored locally on your device using Apple’s SwiftData framework and may be synchronized through Apple’s CloudKit to your private iCloud database.
This allows your Leeway data to be available on other supported devices signed in to the same Apple Account.
We do not operate a server that receives or stores this information, and the developer does not have access to the contents of your private iCloud database.
Information stored through iCloud is also subject to Apple’s applicable terms and privacy practices.
Leeway may request access to your approximate location while you are using the app.
Location is used to:
Determine local sunrise and sunset times
Retrieve local weather information through Apple WeatherKit
Leeway does not request background or “Always” location access.
Leeway does not track or record the route you take during a walk. We do not create GPS trails or maintain a history of your precise locations.
An approximate walking area may be stored with your Leeway data in your private iCloud database.
Weather information is provided through Apple WeatherKit. Apple may receive the location information necessary to provide weather results, subject to Apple’s privacy practices.
You can deny or withdraw location access at any time through your device settings. Some location-dependent features may be limited as a result.
If you give Leeway permission, the app may access motion and fitness information from your device, such as step and distance data, to estimate information about your walks.
This information is processed on your device and is not transmitted to Leeway’s servers.
Motion & Fitness access is optional and can be disabled through your device settings.
Purchases and subscriptions made through Leeway are processed by Apple through the App Store.
We do not receive or store your payment card details, billing address, or Apple Account credentials.
Leeway uses RevenueCat to manage subscription status and determine whether premium features should be available to your installation.
RevenueCat may process information such as:
A generated identifier associated with your app installation
Subscription and purchase information
Product and entitlement information necessary to manage your subscription
Leeway does not intentionally send RevenueCat your dog’s name, dog photo, walk notes, or precise location.
RevenueCat’s handling of information is governed by its own privacy policy.
Leeway does not currently use push notifications or scheduled reminder notifications.
If notification functionality is introduced in the future, this Privacy Policy will be updated as appropriate.
Leeway relies on a limited number of third-party services to provide specific functionality:
Apple iCloud / CloudKit — private synchronization and storage of app data
Apple WeatherKit — local weather information
Apple App Store — purchases and subscription billing
RevenueCat — subscription and entitlement management
These providers may process limited information necessary to provide their respective services and have their own privacy policies and data-handling practices.
Most information you enter into Leeway is stored locally on your device and, where enabled, in your private iCloud database.
You can remove locally stored Leeway information by deleting the app.
If information remains synchronized with iCloud, you can manage or delete Leeway’s stored iCloud data through your Apple device’s iCloud storage settings.
RevenueCat and Apple may retain limited subscription or transaction information according to their respective retention requirements and privacy policies.
You control many of Leeway’s privacy permissions directly through your device.
You can:
Disable location access through Settings → Leeway → Location
Disable Motion & Fitness access through your device’s privacy settings
Delete Leeway and its locally stored information
Manage Leeway’s iCloud storage through your iCloud settings
Manage or cancel your subscription through your Apple Account’s subscription settings
Depending on where you live, applicable privacy laws may give you certain rights relating to personal information processed in connection with Leeway, including rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing.

Leeway is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13.
If you believe a child has provided personal information through Leeway in circumstances that require its deletion, please contact us.
Leeway is designed to minimize the amount of personal information transmitted outside your device and private iCloud storage.
Information stored through Apple’s services benefits from the security protections provided by Apple’s platforms. However, no electronic storage or transmission system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Leeway may be available to users in multiple countries.
Third-party providers used by Leeway may process information in countries other than the country where you live. Their processing is subject to their respective privacy policies and applicable legal requirements.
Where required by applicable law, appropriate measures are used regarding the processing of personal information through services used by Leeway.
We may update this Privacy Policy as Leeway evolves, new features are introduced, or legal and operational requirements change.
When changes are made, we will update the Last Updated date at the top of this policy. Material changes will be communicated where required by applicable law.
